Hello all...

Well I finally did it folks...after dreaming for 16 years and procrastinating for the past 2 which includes two attempts with deposits...I have finally broken down and upgraded. I ordered my 05 M3 on Tuesday - 12/8. I have two weeks to confirm if I would like to take the European delivery option. I am absolutely considering traveling to Munich to pick up the M. I have family in London, so I would drive through Europe to London, where I will drop the car for US transport. Otherwise, the ETA for US arrival is estimated for the last week of January (week of my 30th b-day), talk about starting my mid-life crises... :):):)

Does anyone else on the board have any experience with the European delivery option.

Lastly, I ordered my M with the competition package, which is now offered on the 05 M's. I would like to hear from other potentional owners who may be considering an 05 M with this option.

Cheers all...

p.s. did I mention that I have not slept for the past three nights...arghhh...the wait is already driving me batty...

I've heard the euro delivery option is incredible, especially picking up a car like that.
Just do it.
Good job on the comp pkg as well, why get one w/o it.

Welcome to the Club! Although I have an '04 M3 cabrio now that I got in the U.S., I bought two previous BMWs on the Euro Delivery program. Flew into Munich, took taxis to Dachau (yep, the same place Hitler made infamous) & got my cars at the factory delivery site. First time I had to wait a few hours for my car to be prepped but got a great tour and some good food while I waited (they offered me a place to nap and a shower, too, but being in Dachau I opted out of the shower). Second time my car was ready & waiting; so, after getting my insurance paperwork done I was out the door & driving my new car within about 90 minutes.

The thing that blew me away (both times) were the amazing accessories & options they had on display at the delivery center. I could've spent another 10 grand if I'd had it & if the stuff I wanted was U.S. legal. . .

Breaking-in the cars driving through the Alps was a real blast! On my last trip the car was broken-in by the time I hit Paris, so I did a high-speed run down the autoroute from Paris to Avignon, then hit the cote d'azur road through Nice, Toulon & St Tropez. Cruising at 130mph+ on the way down was simply amazing, racing everything from Porsches to cars I'd never seen before (or since) along the way. Then on to Circuit Paul Ricard where they let me drive for about an hour on the track for around $30, or so.

For an avid driver in a great car, there's nothing like touring Europe. Only issue was in getting the cars home. I dropped them off in Amsterdam (land of H&H -- hookers & hash) & flew home from there. First time it took about 6 weeks for my car to arrive in Oakland (the stereo had been ripped out and the sunroof wouldn't work because people had literally walked on top of the cars to get around in the ship's hold -- both were paid for by insurance but with a lot of delays). The second time it took over 2 months for my car to finally show up, although there was no damage at all.

Would I do it again? Absolutely! I'd just make sure I had another car to drive when I got home until the Beemer came in.
