I asked my dealer if it was possible to install it after delivery and he told me no. Id like to know if anyone had encouter the same situation and what did you do.

I have no idea why your dealer told you that it was not possible to have a phone installed after delivery of your car. BMW recently launched a digital Motorola phone - the CPT 9500, I think - specifically for the E46 cars, as their standard wiring only supported analog phones.

The price is extremely high at $1200, which is equivalent to about 6 top-end handheld phones, but nonetheless it can be done.

Perhaps you could try another dealer, or have an aftermarket company install the unit.

Does anyone know if the phone option gives you, or gives you the option to get, telematics features (on-star like stuff. e.g. directions, nearest ATM, car location, etc.)?
