long story short, they did a s hitty re-finish job on my bumper when I bought the car. months later, the clear coat started to flake off. when I went there today, they blamed stone chips (of which there are none) and treated me like crap.

they tried to turn it all on me, when the car is a CPO with 23k miles and has never been driven in bad weather. does it make sense that its normal (what they said) to have the clear coat flake off of a 2 yr old 54K car??

at least they gave me an 05 x5 as a loaner....

after having their onsite joker f- around for 4 hrs, they returned the car to me. again, a half a ssed attempt to re-finish the bumper. I even had to ask them to fix the over spray on the black grill under the bumper.

If you're thinking about buying BMW in VA, dont think of sterling BMW. their used car sales manager (rick) is a cocky-prick-jerk-off and the service blows.

Sorry to hear about yr dramas. It sucks when you have really bad experiences like this and makes it worse when no one wants to help either. Too bad you cant buy M's directly from BMW America, then they would be able to fix all the crap up front and on the day of complaint.

Most new cars are damaged in shipping and then repainted. It's totally legal and you'll never know until someone measures the thickness of the paint with a gauge.

Well why hasnt the governing board of BMW done something about this. Surely when dealers take out a franchise, they have to sign off on levels of service etc that is maintained across all dealerships.

Sterling are the ones that told me that I couldn't get a spare tire for the 04 M3 and the shark fin can't be removed even tho I've cancelled the Assist feature ( No nav )...Too much emphasis on what they can't do rather than what's possible...Very impersonal....Guess success does that..I'll be dealing with Charolettesville BMW in the future

I have many friends that work there, and one of my best friends is the service manager...the prob is that most of the messages or problems that occur, don't get relayed to him directly b/c of the dumbass advisors there. I will take this directly to him and have everything arranged. If anyone else has any probs. I can get things arranged ahead of time either @ Sterling, Arlington, or Towson BMW's. -ABE- 571-437-5452

i spoke directly to the used sales manager. he treated me like a dumb kid. i offered to have the work done locally and have them billed, but he refused. i now know why - sun motorcars would have done it right. they wouldnt have some guy do a half ass job in the middle of the parking lot.

charlie- thats funny, beacause they have an 05 CB/IR SMG on the floor now with no fin and no assist.

lux- thanx for the offer, but unless you can get them to pay for the bumper to be sanded down and repainted (what it needs to be fixed properly), there is no way this will be fully taken care of. they assured me that it would be taken care of to bmw standards, but i guess that was too much to ask.

i cant waste another entire day to drive down there just to have them treat me like a moron.

BMW of Charlottesville is the best BMW dealership I have ever been to and it is where I bought my car. If you go there, deal with Mike Evans. He is a good guy and a fellow M owner. That dealership would stop at nothing to make me happy whereas most will stop at nothing to get you out the door.

no prob....sterling was once a great dealer...went down hill real fast..and now most of the old guys are back...they're great friends of mine and they are trying very hard to get things back to normal....

We have an appt. scheduled for him on the 23rd. and everything is taken care of for the bumper. Will be repainted for free and he is set up w/ a loaner....
