I just purchased a 2002 M3 SMG with 7800 miles on it. I wanted to get the oil changed, and have a dealer check a few things out with the car. When is the next regular service interval that I can bring the car in to have routine maintenance performed, and when can I have them change my oil?
I have a case of oil left from when I had an M5 last year and was wondering if the M3 will use the same oil. I believe it should.
Thanks for the help and info in advance, it is greatly appreciated.

On the M3 oil change is supposed to be every 15,000 only one brand of oil is recommended Castrol 10W-60 (synthetic), yours should be fine. I know some fellas change their own oil every 7,500 mi for safety measure and bring their car in for regular maintenance every 15,000 service light need to be reset.

So it's safe then to do your own oil changes without having the onboard computer going beserk? I was afraid the onboard computer would be too sensitive.

No -- the onboard computer does not recognized the oil has been changed. I change my own oil every 5-7k miles because I do a lot of track events. I don't reset the computer so that I get the free oil changes from the dealer.
