I went with 3M on my Carbon Blk and it looks pretty good. The quality is excellent. See www.xpel.com

Clear bra all the way! The lingerie: 1; it's ugly, 2; it beats the paint finish into submission where it attaches (the first road trip you take will prove this), 3; you have to take it off every time you wash, and eventually, it stretches and loses the contour holding ability, 4; it's ugly.

I have an 05 M3 scheduled for delivery in November and am planning on getting the 3m clearbra. I assume you can wax over it, etc, right?

Yes you can wax and wash over the bra. The better you take care of it the longer it will last. Average is 7 years for the 3m bra...

Hello. It is harder to install on a black car perfectly. The reson is you can get dry spots underneath the film which causes somewhat of a white spot effect.
Other than that, not much different.

Send auto clear guard your zip code and he will find an installer in your area.

thanks

My hood and one of the fenders has a few rock chips... The previous owner actually did touch up on the hood and it is VERY noticeable around the BMW emblem...

So my question is... should I re-spray the hood prior to installing the clear bra... my car is Carbon Black and from 5 feet you really can't tell the hood has defects... but from close you can... is it worth going through the hassle of respraying at the cost of not having the OEM paint job on the hood? Or should I just install the clear bra (possibly have someone more professional do a fix on the touchup and call it a day)?

I have heard that putting clear bra's over rock chips brings them out even more.

What about when you replace it after time? Will lines appear on the paint? I really want the 3M kit....

Hello. If you already have rock chips, I would recommend getting the factory touch up paint and touching up the paint. Black is not a good color to put the film over if your paint has a lot of chips. There will be little ghost marks from where the film can't lay down all the way. Other colors are fine. On the other hand it looks better than having 50 more rocks chips in your paint a yeat later.

I've taken bras off that have been on there for 4 years and yes sometimes there is a little line going across the hood. To get rid of this, just get a compound wax or use a buffer and buff out the line. Nothing to worry about. I've only seen the line on the hoods, due to the hoods being metal, and the bumpers being plastic. It will come out though.

thanks

I have clear bra installations on all 3 of my cars. A 3M film was used on my first car (Audi A4), and I thought it was good. Sam at www.premiermobilegroup.com used Venture on my other two cars (2002 Audi A6 & 2004 M3) and it was even better. The film is clearer and there is a lifetime warranty for it. After seeing the difference, I couldn't turn back. Hope this helps.

Hello. Lot of the installers like to use Venture tape on cars due to it being A LOT easier to install then 3M, (easier to stretch.) The venture tape is thinner and it doesn't have the 2mill of clear coat as the new 3m film does have. Due to the venture tape not having a clear coat the film doesn't last as long and it gets a dirtier a lot quicker. Yes it is clearer but only for about 1 year.

Both have ups and downs, but if I had to trust a company I would go with 3M since they been making the paint and headlight film a lot longer.

Go to www.autoclearguard.com for 30% off or if you have any questions.

I think that, among other reasons, I chose Venture because it comes with a lifetime warranty. It kind of put me at ease. Another reason was that when I was given a comparison test on site, I was able to puncture the 3M film with my key while I was unable to with the Venture film. But I guess it all comes down to personal preference.

As for the clearity of the film, I've had the Venture film on my A6 for 2 years now, and it still seems to be clearer than the 3M on my A4. In any case, I think both serves me really well as it protects my cars from paint chips. It's just that from the looks on my cars, I'd definitely prefer Venture. Thanks for your imput.
