That's kinda pricey... but sounds like a good deal!! is it 2 days of lapping and track action?? I think I might just do it... I'll just have to break the car in real quick ;)...

Have you done it before? Is it worth it???

Do you know of any cancellation policy, or weather related problems? aka I don't want to spend $360 for 2 days of rain lapping... yknow...

You, natureboy and I should all go... the 3 LSB M3s lapping around - sweet!!!

I started driving on the track last year and did do the BMWCCA driver's school. I've had around 8-10 track days total. It's definitely worth it if you're interested in learning about high performance driving. The school runs both Saturday and Sunday...you get track time both days...in addition to some classroom time. It is kind of pricey but there's no way around it...the track rental is so expensive...we need at least 60 students just to break even. Track time is expensive enough but you also have to factor in corner workers, EMS, fire department, etc.

I'll have to check on the cancellation policy...can't remember what the exact policy is. As for rain...If it does rain, the school will go on as long as there's no standing water on the track. You'll learn twice as much in the rain anyways:)

I may or may not drive..not sure yet....my first child is due to be born around that time so it's difficult to commit.

whats up guys. i'm sooo bummed. i was totally in for this, and the girlfriend just reminded me that we have to go to Philly that weekend for a good friends wedding. thats how it usually works out. i have nothing planned for all of October except that weekend.
it would have been cool to have three smurf cars ripping it up. :banghead:

Tire wear will definitely be excessive but you should be fine unless your current tires a very worn to begin with...As an example, I mounted a brand new set of Kumho ECSTA MX in 245/40/18, 275/35/18 on OEM rims and I got 10K miles out of them....which included 6 track days and 5 AutoXs along with everyday street driving.

At BeaveRun, the front left tire takes most of the abuse....but wear will also depend on driving style...a more experienced driver will be able to reduce front tire wear by steering more with the throttle.

If you do decide to go out, I would suggest dialing in as much negative camber on the front as the stock suspension will allow...which I think is around -1.5 degrees. This will help reduce wear on the outside edges of the front tires.

Do you know of any cancellation policy, or weather related problems?

I just checked...the cancellation policy is on the application:

Cancellations received before September 17th will be allowed with a $25
Cancellations received after September 17th will be refunded, less the $25 charge, only if the space can be filled with another student.

Thanks a lot for your answers...
So, tire wear won't be toooo bad,as in, if I only do this one event, and maybe one autocross, I'll be able to get some 15k+ out of them... which is not so bad..

So you know when the latest possible date is?? I need to check my schedule for important events I may need to prepare for that next week, and I will not know about them until the beginning of next week... Do you think that I will still be able to register if I have nothing in the way?? I really appreciate your time and answers, kmurph!!

You should be able to register anytime as long as the school is not completely filled....Here's a revised copy of the registration form. There is now a third page which gives a little description of what to expect in a driver's school.

I live in Franklin Park/Wexford....wasn't me....and Unfortunately, I'm not that young anymore either:) I don't get down to Shadyside that much anymore. Did the LSB M3 you saw have black HREs and an Eisi exhaust. If so, I've met him a few times...

My car is in front with the BBS rims...

Do you have to bring your own car or will they supply you one?

I think you have to bring your own car... but it's a great way to finally use your car!!!
don't quote me on that though... but I'm pretty sure they don't supply anything...

BeaveRun usually has some cars available that you can rent but it's very expensive for what you get....Mazda 6s w/ the 220HP V6.
