Enough talk of "would you buy it?" or "will it be better?".

IF you were to buy one, what would you get?

-Sedan or coupe?
-Options?
-Color?

Thought this would be a good pre-release topic.

Well its a hard decision when I don't know what it look like, what colors are offered and what options are available.

Other than that I'd order an M3,

In LSB.

I'm talking about what you would WANT to order. Sunroof? Nav? All that. I'm just curious to see what people like.

Depends on where I go with the current car, if the new M3 is hideous than Im getting a GTR end of story.

If its somewhat good looking, Nav, CWP, Carbon Fiber roof, Comp pack, 6 speed etc...

EmDeeAr

I'd never get a GTR. Only automatic.

I would do as follows:

Coupe
Alarm and competition package if it exists
Alpine or TVM

Basically I would do what I did to my new ride.. Basically completely raw M3... no heat seats, no nav, no crap that is unnecessary for a little track runner... probably could have done the DCT but I like rowing.. Only reason for the alarm is the fools out there..

I'd buy either a white one or a silver coupe. I wish they would bring back the Imola leather option, it would have to be some sort of red leather. I would have Nav and all that, EDC, 6 speed, CF roof, that's about it. I wouldn't be so much interested in the comp pack for the money.

Alarm is probably standard, no?

Let's see here, what would I order or buy on then new M, looking back on the positive qualities that make me desire and admire a BMW M, for starters let's begin with BMW's absolute stellar record on making dependable fuel pumps for the current twin turbo cars; BMW's mechanical genius for making bearing shells on the big end of the crank; BMW's rock solid reputation for crafting a super strong rear chassis; BMW's enlightened engineering prowess in selecting tool steel to make a VANOS hub that is indestructible; and BMW's staggering genius in over-complicating a once great driver's machine and one that garnered the reputation one of the winningest homologated car ever produced in sportscar racing. The improvements don't stop there, BMW then made it porkier than Rosanne Barr to stifle the once great car's driving dynamics so it can then compete for that crowd of dolts, hair dressers and hotel heiresses who buy AMG products who only care about ease of driving, being unencumbered by having to not use a gear lever and clutch, ease of driving by possessing no coordination skills to perform a heel-toe downshift while simultaneously modulating the brakes at the approach...

Christ oh mighty, in my recollections of why I would buy a M car with three hair dryers hanging off of it, I for forgot why I would even by one of these CF conflagrations. OK, I remember now, I'd by an extended warranty to cover my hind parts when the whole car goes into mechanical/electrical meltdown! :lolhit:

I was at first set on wanting the F80 when I saw the camouflaged photos and videos. People started making renders of the coupe and now I'm having a hard time seeing which one I like more.

Since I plan on keeping my E90 and E46, I am leaning towards getting the coupe this time around. I just really hope they don't call it the "M4."

Anyways, so as of now, what I plan on ordering if it all works out:

Coupe
6MT
Alpine White or Melbourne Red
CF Roof

No other options. I prefer to have the most minimalist cars as possible. I ordered all our other M3s with barely any options.

I would get black on black, tech package, manual, sun roof, as much carbon fiber as I could.....and a big bribe for my accountant to not give me crap about buying another M3as soon as a new one comes out.

Sedan. Alpine. Red interior. 6MT. Carbon roof. Carbon options. Comp. Tech package. Nav. All the packages really..... Want it to have creature comforts and look sexy as well!

Would be a DD so I'd probably lower it.

- F82 (4 door M3 is wrong, IMO)
- Carbon fiber where possible, may mean sunroof delete (which is fine)
- Competition package if it isn't a complete waste like it is on the E92
- Exec / tech package (nav and all that)
- Probably no brake or suspension upgrades as they will be ripped out for aftermarket soon enough.

It's going to be a DD and as I spend at least 2.5 hrs a day driving, I'd want it to have some luxury...

If I COULD get one I'd go bare bones as much as possible:

Sedan (maybe coupe...maybe...it costs more...prob not)
6 spd manual, no question
Sunroof delete
MAYBE navigation/the package it comes with
Brake and suspension upgrades if offered
Manual seats if possible
Probably leather interior

Color combo?
I'd like alpine or black on red or tan. A blue, green, or purple would be a nice exterior color too.

lemans blue or interlagos blue / cloth interior

cf roof

sirius

immediately remove the front seats, remove the carpet, remove all the sound deadening, install 2 recaro pole positions, put the carpets right back in and shave off a quick 100lbs.

the oem suspension on the e9x m3 was so superior to the oem suspension on the e46, so i am sure the f80 m3 suspension will just be AWESOME.

I love the look of the split carbon fiber on your car. Good taste.!

Back to the question. I will order the 4 door, DTC and give it to the wife. This way I will have the best of two worlds. My Manual e92 coupe  and a new 4 door. I would prefer manual but wife would know it for me and not for her. :argue:

My other idea would be to trade the x5 for a X5M or X6M and give it to the wife and call it a day.

I'd probably go close to stock. Love Interlagos, but may be up for something else like a red or orange. I had too much fun with EDC on my E92 to be able to resist it, though. Premium sound was EXCEPTIONAL, but not sure I could justify that cost again. Bluetooth a must if not standard.

I liked my nav, but the juice isn't worth the squeeze on that anymore. Not if you have a smartphone anyway.

Wife and I have decided to get the new M3/M4 when it comes out. I am still not sure on sedan vs coupe, I guess it will depend on our life situation and if we decide to have kids. I would prefer a coupe because I'm 6'7" and don't like the pillar in my face when looking back. One thing is for sure, we are picking up in Europe.

I want an Alpine White car with simple options like moonroof, ZCP, manual (if available), winter package (love heated seats) and dark red (Cinnamon) interior. Perhaps a good sound system or bluetooth capability would be a plus to play music but not a must. Same with Navi, it's useless and I don't need it but if it's standard I'll take it. Still trying to convince my wife that Alpine White is not your grandpa's white but a nice, deep beautiful color.

First mods will be eliminating every trace of cheesy and tacky bits BMW puts on there, like chrome.

I'd get the M4 Gran Coupe, in estoril blue with creme full leather interior and a cocoa wood trim.

6mt (if available), with the competition package
