Is the only way to remove road contaminants, using a clay bar?
Or will a good cleaner wax also due the trick?

Also, for the more obvious contaminants like bug splatter, will tar remover work? or is it better to buy products specific to bugs?

A clay bar will remove it better than cleaner wax will.

Some very fine rubbing compound works also.

I tried to clean my mother's 3 series with the clay bar, and it really did not take off the tar dots that she has on the bottom sideskirts. Is there a better product out there for this??

From the same people who make invisible glass, which is what I believe is the best glass cleaner, there is Tarminator.

You should be able to pick it up off the shelf in most places.

Can the tar stuff be used to remove bug splatter as well? Or should exclusive bug products be used?
