If you've been following this forum, you know how much swirl marks on my car bothers me. I have done literally hours of research on how to wash my car without picking up swirl marks (...yes I do need a life http://m3forum.com/ubb/wink.gif ). I am going to post things that I have found particularly useful in washing/detailing my car.

1. Two buckets to wash. One filled with shampoo/water and one filled with just water. dip the washmitt in the water bucket to rinse before putting into the shampoo bucket. removes dirt from the wash mitt that it picks up from the car as you wash. rinse the water bucket often as you wash.

2. Lambs wool wash mitts. very soft and allows dirt to be caught between the fibres and away from the car.

3. two wash mitts. one for the upper/most visible parts of the car (hood, doors, trunk, etc. where swirl marks are most visible) and one for the lower part and wheel wells, etc.

4. i dont normally recommend specific products but i used a dryer called the absorber yesterday and it worked so well i thought i would put it here. if you have not seen it, it like a sponge towel that you just lay on a patch of water on the car. it abosrbes the water without any need to wipe the water off...thus no possiblity of scratches during drying. it works great for tight areas where water can collect..just put an end of the absorber in the spot and it sucks the water up.

ok, i will post some more stuff on waxing later.

Frank's advice is pretty usefull....too many n00bs ask about swirls...they are there on all cars...darker ones more pronounced...
