Hey Guys,

Since there won't be an 05, it looks like I will have to buy one sooner than I wanted. I was hoping to wait 6-8 months, but doesn't look like that will work.

So, any recommendations on a dealer/sales rep? I live in Redwood Shores, so there are a few within 20 miles or so.

Thanks for the help.

I was looking in the same area about 3 months ago. Stevens Creek and Fremont/Claridge were the most willing to deal. Allison was not as flexible, but was very upfront and probably has a slight edge in customer service. I went with SC as they were more responsive than Fremont. Peter Pan is close to you but I don't have any experience with them. Good luck.

yeah yeah yeah...

I could have gotten more than $2,200 off ($1,700 plus free OEM Alarm, parts and labor) if I didn't talk to you Tom! :chair: :chair: Oh well, I guess I got greedy too, shouldn't have pushed the dealer and lost the deal on the table.

Man-o-man, $2,200 off... that would have been UNHEARD OFF in CA...

That wasnt nice at all. I tried to help and said that the deal you had was pretty good but there was no harm in asking for more. Ultimately it was your decision to make. I really dont know what happened in the end but I guess you didnt get your car. Despite what you are implying above, I still do feel bad that you did not get the car you wanted. Subsequent to the fact, I found out why you did not get your car. It was NOT cause you pushed hard but simply they has sold out their last allocation of June delivery dates for a price higher than what you were offering. I know this because when my friend purchased is June build M3 in March 2004, it was 1 of the last 2 slots left. Who has ever heard of a dealer backing down by somebody asking for more of a discount .. they just say "that is our final offer, take it leave." Think about it. Anyhow, I do feel bad and best of luck you.

I work in Redwood Shores. I'm an extermely satisfied Sonnen BMW customer... bought my 323 there, and just ordered an M3 through them. Thus, I'd recommend that you enjoy the drive up to San Rafael, and get treated right. As for if they offer the best price in town, no idea, that's not what I look for in an auto dealership.

My $0.02.

Cheers,
Incendiary

I'm with you Incendiary, I'm not going to worry about an extra $500 bucks on a 60K car. The service is more important. I don't mind the drive up to San Rafael, but it can be a real pain when you need service. With that in mind, closer to home is an advantage.

Anyone dealt with Peter Pan (god, I hate that name...)?

At least there are a few votes for Allison, which isn't to far. Who should I contact? The lady I talked to on the phone wasn't that sharp.

Thx all

Is it for sure there will not be an '05? I called one dealer and BMW usa and they both indicated that there would be an '05.

Yes, I recently bought an M3 from Peter Pan. Shop around, get the best price, then talk to Hank Farzaneh.

I'm not pleased with Fremont BMW customer service .. my service rep didnt know what a O2 senor was nor what a CDV .. duh! Ive always heard Peter Pan, Sonnen and BMWSF are rips. I guess when I first posted this question .. I never got a clear answer.

i heard peterpan has some bad service. Stevens creek also has bad service. I brought in my 330i to get service cause a check engine light came on and they didn't even offer a loaner or rental. They had my car for almsot 2 days. I had to catch a ride from a co-worker to get there and back. talk about good service hahah. I will never goto stevens creek again. I tried gettign a discount from them on a 04 m3 they only offer me 750 off msrp and they said take it or leave. I left and thanks to thomper i got a hughe off from fremont bmw. I am happy so i guessi vote for fremont bmw.

Fremont BMW is where I got mine. They were good.

As far as service goes, my salesman told me that the customer service I'll get will be "disappointing" compared to what I'm used to with Magnussen Lexus. So far, he's right. :-(

Fremont BMW will offer a rental from AVIS and if they have any BMW loaners .. they will rent that out. I didnt my car their yet they gave me a loaner for free .. not bad ... just not very knowledge on their cars.

Here's the thing, guys, the New Car Sales department and Service department are two entirely seperate profit centers.

In other words, Dealer X couldn't care less if you bought the car at Dealer Y but want to service it at X. Service is actually quite a profitable component of a dealership. There's no reason for a dealership to give you second-class citizen treatment just because you didn't buy the car from them, that would only mean thay they are shooting themselves in the foot.

I live in Redwood Shores and got my M3 and last car (330i) from Alison BMW. I have been generally pleased with the sales and service experience, with the exception that not all the service mgrs are equally knowledgeable and on my 1200 mile checkup they forgot to secure my ATF reservoir cap, I found it hanging out by the skid pan when I check my oil level 3 weeks later :banghead: Lesson learned... open the hood and inspect after service and check your oil once a week!!!

True that Fremont BMW service is not very good. It seems they are very understaffed both in parts and services. Last time I took my car there to activate the alarm, the service rep has no idea what I was talking about. I've been to their parts dept quiet often and 70% of the time there was no one there and I have to wait for someone to return. I talked to the cashier or someone that works there if they could get the parts guy, the respond has always been "wait here and he will return momentarily".

I also don't believe there is any correlation between the service and where you get your cars from for BMWs. I had services in both Stevens Creek and Fremont and I never got treated differently (got my car from Steven's Creek). However, I had different experience at Claridges Porsche. My last car when I called for a service, the lady that was scheduling the service asked me if I got my car from them and I said no. She said the next available slot was in two weeks and if I got the car from them they could do it within the next few days. I guess dealer to dealer it varies...
