Thanks,

Seng .. either you drove a lot or did not drive at all because typically inspection 1 is covered.

Tom,
Thanks, I thought I'd need one just because I have 30k on it and my warranty just had expired on April 18th and now they (SCBMW) want 1500 dollar for it.

The lists they gave me to do if i'd take my car to them.
1. valves adjustment (i don't know about S54 engine, does it really need valve adjustment?) i thought it adjust itself on this engine.
2. change microfilter
3. spark plugs
4. oil change
5. Oil filter
6. check the brakes.
and they want $1500 for it. damn...

hmm .. this is what I would do. Get a BMW CCA memebership .. you can get between 10-20% off labor! Thats huge. I am pretty sure if you needed inspection I, the inspection light would go on saying that you need inspection 1. As far as the cost, thats how much it costs man. Thats why people think about getting the 1 year extended warranty for about $1500 .. thats what I have so I got Inspection I covered and anything else as far as service.

As far as the type of service .. valve adjustment is pretty important. Keep your car running at optimal performance. You can think about going to some aftermarket shops who perform Inspection service like Rennwerks in MTN View and see how much they cost.

Good luck!

Believe it or not, for performance reasons, the S54 is one of the few new BMW engines that are not auto-adjusting. The shims should to be remeasured and changed once every 30K.
