ive a 98 M3 evo with 120k on it, the car seems its about to cut out but when i put a bit of rev on it its perfect, its so bad the car shakes on the suspension. i found a cracked pipe on the idle control valve and replaced the pipe and cleaned out the idle control valve hoping that would fix it but no joy at all still the same, anybody got any ideas what i can check next ?

hey sharks, did you ever figure out the rough idle? ... my car has been idling rough for a while now and i can't figure out why. cleaning the ICV is definitely a good place to start and i may have to do that again. ... other causes might include the following:

-worn engine mounts
-air hose leak
-clogged/dirty air filter or air intake valves
-camshaft problem(?)
