View Full Version : Pix from BMW CCA Spring Rally
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 05:17:36 AM Came back from the 4th Annual BMW CCA Puget Sound Chapter Spring Rally. It was the first one that I have participated in. In a word, FUN! My wife (navigator) and I (driver) both had a wonderful time driving on various roads in Whidbey Island, WA, socializing with other teams, and enjoying dinner while the results and awards were announced. At lunch time, we were given a great opporunity to take a personal look at a collection of Italian supercars which belong to an individual who knows our rally organizer in person. I'll post some of the pics I took here. Here's the first. An immaculate Dino 246GT!
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 05:18:49 AM Ferrari 512BB (berlinetta boxer). It's an "i" (injection) model, according to the owner.
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 05:19:43 AM Lamborghini Silouette. Bertone _can_ design beautiful automobiles!
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 05:21:23 AM Ferrari Daytona. The owner says this is one of the rarest Ferari models that have ever made it to the U.S.
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 05:22:27 AM One of my favourite M's...
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 05:30:32 AM The M6 has got upgraded Brembo brake kits up front.
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 05:33:58 AM I don't which model it is, though. A Carrera 2?
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 05:35:47 AM Look at the roll cages and racing seat belts...
Sirius Sun, Apr-25-2004, 05:38:29 AM Very nice. Glad you had fun. I should join the CCA around here, but I dont' have the slightest idea how heh.
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 05:40:41 AM No, the dog isn't ours.
DaBean Sun, Apr-25-2004, 05:48:39 AM nice! - thanks for the pics, Dai!! :D
flabmaster Sun, Apr-25-2004, 05:48:53 AM Incredible cars. Sounds like you had a great time. Hopefully I'll be able to get out to some meets/events soon.

http://www.bmwcca.org or call them up and say you'd like to join. I just joined at the beginning of this month. I still can't decide whether or not I'm going to put the BMW CCA window sticker in my M or not.

Thanks! I hope you'll be able to enjoy the upcoming events soon, too. You can check the Roundel magazine for local as well as national events.

We have our own chapter sticker ("BMW CCA Puget Sound Chapter"). I haven't been able to decide either, but a lot of the participants today had one on their cars.
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 03:55:53 PM Can you believe this car was designed more than 20 years ago?
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 04:00:29 PM I believe this is the last boxer-12 engine Ferrari produced... Wait, does the Testarossa have a boxer-12 as well?
EMAXX Sun, Apr-25-2004, 04:01:10 PM Thanks for the pics. They look great. Amazing cars out there. That M6 looks amazing.
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 04:02:05 PM The "cavallino rampante" (prancing horse) on the steering wheel is sooooooo appealing!
daihard Sun, Apr-25-2004, 04:09:05 PM Thanks for the pics. They look great. Amazing cars out there. That M6 looks amazing.
Thanks! Yeah, those cars were a great addition to the already wonderful rally event. The organizer guy told us in the driver's briefing before the start that there'd be a nice surprise at the lunch site. I didn't expect anything like that, though.

Yep. Here's a shot of a TR motor at the Mount Dora Festival of Exotic Cars:
SilvrGreyMatter Sun, Apr-25-2004, 06:14:11 PM ...and 1 of 2 :eek2: Daytona Spyders that attended the event!

Thanks for the great pics! They complement mine very nicely. I don't care for the rims on the Daytona Spider, though. :takecover
(Appreciate the info on the Testarossa's boxer-12, too.)

That'd be a great surprise. Just the rally would have been amazing, then you add in all of those great, vintage cars, then it's one of the best things in the world.
Did you mean pRacing horse, instead of plancing horse?
I never really like the whole wire wheel stuff on cars. :peace:

Ouch... yes, that's what I meant. Thanks for the correction.
