Today I went to Difeo BMW and first of all the salesman that I got was stupid!! I told him I wanted M3! and he said, "coupe or sedan"!!!! WTF! from then on I Knew this guy was going to be bad! next I told him exactly what I wanted, also I told him that I am decidin on this or a 996TT(lease), then he tells me that the M3 performs much better than the 9.9.6.T.T!!! my eyes lit up like a christmas tree!! i LOVE the M3 but no way it can perform like a 996TT. He didnt even know what a 996TT was, i told him PORSCHE!!

I told him that I was payin ca$h so if he could give me a nice discount. He said, "no, because this time of the season the M3s sell, but if I purchased during winter I wouldve gotten a discount" Then he tells me if i wanted to order i needed to leave a deposit of $5K, is this true? Im 22 but look like Im 19, so maybe thats why? I asked if I could also test drive the car, but I didnt want to go for it really since it was snowin outside. Thurs morning im going to call him to see if I can test drive the car.

I was hopin to get a salesman that was more enthusiastic about the M3 than me  Oh and I saw a black/black SMG M3 outside brand new with the door unlocked, so I sat and admired it for like 15mins. what an AWESOME feelin, cant wait to see this baby in my garage soon!

Here is what i did. I went to BMW's site and optioned out the car i wanted. I took the options and the price and pasted them into MS Word. I called the 5 closest dealers to me and talked to a salesman. I explained i would fax them over what i was looking for, but i was sending it to 5 dealers. The dealer at the end of the day with the best deal would be placing the order.

I got 2 places that would do $2500 off with $500 down. I did have a prob when i went to sign the papers at one dealer though, i have a post here about being discrimated against for my age.

This morning i went with a local dealer and was able to get $1500 off with $750 down. And that was to order a White/IR pretty much fully loaded.

Good luck with your search, 5k down seems a bit exessive though.

heres what to do...find the local dealers that you would drive or a short flight to take to get to. Fax them what you want, including all the options and colors....tell them that you are paying cash and that you want them to run their best offer since you have other faxes going out to other dealers. I did this with 3 of the dealers in my area and when i went to my local dealer (they had the best to offer) they were amazed when i walked in and told them what i want

Just a thought on the deposit... $5,000 sounds way too much for me. Most people on this forum paid from nothing to $2,000, as far as I can tell. It depends upon the dealership.

Sounds like a better deal.

You also want to make sure the deposit is refundable.

How far from Madison WI are you? I had a great experince with Zimbrick. Got about 2800 off but did have to put 10 percent down. Oh and as of a couple of weeks ago they had 3 in stock.......said it was strange for them to have that many.

LOL...Three years age different from looks can't be desinquished. (sp?) 22 > 19 too short a gap so it doesn't matter, it's not your age or how you look.

This salesman is smarter than you think, he's bullshitting to sell the car, he doesn't car how he sells it, a sale is a sale.

Secondly, your not going to pull out of a $5k deposit if you went ahead. Why they do this is so that they aren't stuck with a car on the showroom that'll have to be discounted to get it moved.
