Replacing my rear brakes and i'm having an issue. I can't get the rotor to come off. The parking brake is released. I put on some ear muffs and smack the crap out of it with a hammer and it doesn't budge. For some reason the rotors that are on there don't appear to have set screws which is strange I think. Also, compared to the front rotors, the back ones appear to have a 1/2 inch spacer between them and the wheel. Does this come off or is it part of the rotor?? My new rotors don't have this spacer.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have a spacer rusted/stuck on the rotor hat.

No spacers on stock M3.
I'm assuming you bought the M3 used?
Why don't you post a pic of the rotor(s) in question.

Just hit the mother with a rubber mallet a bunch of times, breaks it free. It is tough, no doubt it will come off though. Mine were the same way
Make sure your parking brake isnt on either :lolhit:

Awsome thanks for the replay. So just to clarify before I start whackin at it more... The "Spacer" should come free with some whackin and there are in fact set screws behind that??
Thanks.

If you have a spacer on, yes it needs to come off first.
Sets screws are behind that hold the rotor on. May have to hit that a few times to loosen it up too.

Like others said remove the non OEM spacer first then the rotor. The best thing to do when they are stuck is heat it up with a propane torch and give it a good wack with a big hammer on the rotor face and they come right off every time.
