Let's help all those (including myself) better our Insurance Premiums....

I've recently been quoted $3777/yr. for an '04 M3 Cab w/a multi-car discount (NJRe-Insurance). That's pretty insane! I'm 30yrs old, own my own home, live in Northern Jersey and have 2pts on my license, and single.

What are you guys getting? Is this normal? Are there special companies that specialize in high-line cars like M3s?

I'm sure everyone would like to know....Thanks!

I just got my renewal in & they jacked me up to $2600/yr.

18, '95 M3, 1 minor parking lot encounter - no pts, 1 ticket (but traffic school)

From what others tell me I am paying way too much with AAA (although they were cheaper than my last provider, Mercury) - very interested in this thread...

What? You have to introduce your agent to me!

I am a 36-year-old married male with a clean record. I pay $1,060 / year after multi-car discount and home insurance discount.

The trick is to buy the car and not finance it. If you buy it, then you have the option to not get the comprehensive coverage.

Thus, no comprehensive. Everything is at state minimal, and maximum deductables. BAM, 800/year. No agents, just www.progressive.com. :D

Ah, I see. I did buy my car (no financing), so I do have the option of not getting comprehensive, but I'm not sure I'd go that route. One thing I should do is raise the deductible. My current deductible is $150, which is way too low IMO.

Anyway... thanks for the input.

Dai ... you are getting seriously ripped on that low deductable. IMHO, car insurance is CRAP. 100% pure crap. It's a temporary credit with no set APRs. Think about it.

You get into an accident, you pay the deductable and insurance say ... dish out $5000 to get your car repaired. Your bi-yearly payment goes up an unknown percent (this is the where they fuk you, in case you are wondering). on and on, after 2-5 years, you end up paying back the entire $5000 or more. So .... what's the point?

Here's the way to do it. Get the insurance levels I have, never above state minimum. Any damage to the car under $5000, pay out of pocket, don't even report the accident. Anything above $5000, hire a lawyer if the insurance company won't agree to have the car totalled.

Oh, and don't drive stupid (e.g. weave in and out of traffic). Always make sure that someone hits you, not the other way around. When the cop gets there, DENY EVERY THING.

Car insurnace sucks.
