View Full Version : ▀▄ eas | Sneak Peek of new 19x10 VB3 CSL wheels from VMR!
tom @ eas Thu, Jan-22-2009, 08:14:13 PM We have some exciting new products planned for 2009, with a few of them being introduced in the next few weeks. The first of those is VMR's new wider and more concave VB3 19x10. With the number of newer vehicles entering the market being able to accept more aggressive offsets and fitments, we feel that there will be a solid market for these wider setups.

This wheel has been optimized for low offset vehicles including the E90, E92, E90 M3, E92 M3 and E46 M3. Along with the extra 0.5" of width, we are able to achieve a concavity far greater than the factory CSL wheels. The final production weight is expected to be very close to our VB3 19x9.5. With the 10" wheel, the recommended tire widths are from 265 up to 295.
Production is scheduled for February with arrival to our warehouse in March. Finishes being offered include: Super Silver, Hyper Black, Gunmetal, and Matte Black. For customers wishing to upgrade their sizing from 19x9.5 to 19x10, a loyalty discount will be offered.

I want to find out about the 19x9.5 and what it takes to fit up front. I want to look as aggressive as possible and the concavity would be a huge plus, but I don't want to pull the fenders. Rolling is ok with me though :D Would you mind including a quote for those as well along with the 19x10 rears?
PS- i dont want to go wider than 275's in back and 255 in front :)

I have tried BBS CH 9,5x19 +40 offset on my car, but it wont't fit because of my KW V3...the problem is that spring goes very low on damper and the wheel is rubing on the spring...but i think that it would be possible if you would have some other suspension which have different spring that sits upper on the damper.

M3MAGIC Mon, Jan-26-2009, 06:41:27 PM i dont know much about wheel width. i assume rear 19x10 will provide better traction than 19x9.5 but are the tires more limited and expensive?
i was about to buy front 19x8.5 rear 19x9.5 csl wheels but it sounds like a mistake from what people are saying. so, what is the real difference in look and performance? i wish i could see 9.5 vs 10 side by side to understand visually.

The 10" wheel allows wider tires to be run. Tire cost will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Here's a comparison of the wheels:
http://www.europeanautosource.com/images/vendors/velocity/vb3/VB3_all_WM.jpg
As a result of the wider with, the spoke angle/depth of the wheel is much more pronounced.
tonggi Tue, Jan-27-2009, 05:46:22 PM any way to do a comparison of them next to each other rather than descending. its hard to see the difference in concavity with the narrower wheel closer than the wider wheel.

Aside from spoke angle/depth, do they have the same position with respect to the wheel well? I mean, is 9.5 overshadowed by the wheel well but 10 more flush with the side of the car?

I am interested in getting just the 19x10's for the rear and possibly using my 19x9.5 for my fronts. Does that make sense?

Concavity is bit different as well as the spoke angle depth will show with a wider wheel. For the fronts, you'll likely need a +45mm wheel with 5-10mm spacer to correct it.
ill take em RIGHT NOW.
PM me directly to be placed on a waiting list and you'll be among the first to be notified as soon as these are available.

tom @ eas Wed, Jan-28-2009, 12:59:06 AM what will you be doing with all the used wheels ? also can you link me to the post i think you made about the difference in miro and vmr
Here's a quick comparison of the Velocity Motoring (VMR) and the Miro wheels:
http://www.europeanautosource.com/images/vendors/velocity/vb3/vmrvsmirocsl01.jpg
Things to note:
1. VMR wheels have a longer spoke length than the Miros, which fork later to the outer ring. A longer spoke length gives a slimmer look.
2. Outer ring thickness is noticeably wider onthe VMRs compared to Miro.
3. The VMRs are not as deep lipped as the Miros, giving a truer look to the CSL design.
4. Spoke Angle (or "concavity" as others are calling it) is much more pronounced on the VMRs than the Miros, especially on M3 fitments. there is an ongoing discussion about this very subject on e46Fanatics and e90post.
5. VMR wheels are offered in 4 finishes (Silver, HyperBlack, Gunmetal and Matte Black). Miros are only offered in Silver.
6. VMR wheels are manufactured in a true 72.6mm centerbore, not requiring the use of hubcentric rings. Miros feature a larger bore and require a a ring (included) installed before mounting.
7. Miro "Tuning Fork" ends are spaced wider on Miros towards the ring portion than the VMR wheels, which are closer together.
8. Lug holes are spaced farther apart on VMRs from centerline. Miros intercept with trim ring on face of wheel.
9. Reputation: The VMRs have been on the market for quite some time now with a well-established reputation with those running the wheels.
The biggest factors are the spoke angle, thickness and lip depth. As for weights, here's a 19" VMR wheel on the scale:
http://www.europeanautosource.com/images/vendors/velocity/vb3/vb3weight.jpg
Comparison is meant for informative purposes only, I'd rather this not turn into a Miro vs VMR debate.

The 10" is a rear wheel, so it will clear pretty much all BBK systems, compatibility on fronts will depend on the width/tire you are looking for.

No pics to release yet - we're waiting for VMR to finish up with theirs at the moment.
KCLARK Tue, Feb-03-2009, 07:27:34 PM Is the v710's and v715's gonna be made in 19x10 also?

Haven't heard of any plans for the 10" wheels for the V710 or V715 at this time. But if there are any, we'll be sure to post those up.
But as far as I know, there aren't any plans right now.
///M-Addict Tue, Feb-03-2009, 07:34:01 PM This is going to lower the price of the normal CSL Reps, and essentially F**k over your previous customers. Do you have any plans to take the old CSL Reps back?

Pause, take a deep breath and let's read the first post again.
Production is scheduled for February with arrival to our warehouse in March. Finishes being offered include: Super Silver, Hyper Black, Gunmetal, and Matte Black. For customers wishing to upgrade their sizing from 19x9.5 to 19x10, a loyalty discount will be offered.

That was a very nice reply for a ridiculous comment, and it is great that you are going to give people a break. You owe them nothing. But, customer loyalty can't be overlooked. :thumbsup2:
Thanks Tom... I am going to get on the waiting list for gunmetals. What is the expected price?

jesus, what a d*ck
jram Tue, Feb-03-2009, 07:54:43 PM Wow. So manufacturers should never improve on designs or make things better? Are you mad at BMW for releasing the e92 as well? Its called progression. You should rethink your hasty comments.

This is the type of crap that is not needed a forum geared towards helping people. A new wheel design doesn't make it a better design. You sound like a complete moron. It's not like they are offering the same wheel that is twice as strong and half the weight. It is a totally different wheel. Any discount given AT ALL, you should be greatly appreciative.
Mr. Wolfe
Mr.G3 Wed, Feb-04-2009, 01:06:21 PM This is an excellent design. Those wheels would be sweet on a forged custom design mode (i.e. build your wheel) - as it is I am not budging from my 21lbs forged set fitting 265f/275r tires without spacers
bluextc Wed, Feb-04-2009, 01:12:42 PM i bet if spokes were less arched from center to the outter rim it would look even more concave or 'deep'.
GuapOh Wed, Feb-04-2009, 05:38:11 PM Wow. That looks awesome. I might be buying that wheel really soon.
Mpowerza Tue, Feb-10-2009, 10:11:35 PM Im def ordering a set of these, Glad I waited and didnt gor for the normal ones..
only crappy thing is Im all the way in South Africa, shipping costs are a b1@tch...nearly half the price of the wheels itself :( :(

BMWMFanatic Thu, Feb-12-2009, 01:08:11 AM Did we do any comparing to the OEM ZCP wheels? Wondering if I missed it in the thread. Maybe it would be better to order these if they would look the same than the OEM ZCP ones?
Dr///M3 Thu, Feb-12-2009, 01:19:42 AM Pics on the E46 M yet?!
I can't wait for these pics to be released.

ZCPs are 9.5 in rear, the new rear CSLs will be 10" and have a deeper concavity than the ZCPs can ever hope for.
Pics on the E46 M yet?!
I can't wait for these pics to be released.
We'll post as soon as testing is completed.

One word - PRICE.
Repsol Wed, Feb-18-2009, 01:27:18 AM One word - PRICE.
So they look the same, weigh the same and hold up the same??? If thats the case then I'll be patiently waiting for pricing/availability
Mr. Wolfe Wed, Feb-18-2009, 02:18:24 AM 2 words.
Price-Concavity
Mr. Wolfe
air-cooledjbj Wed, Feb-18-2009, 05:44:06 AM Yes, concavity is key with the ZCP design.
rkang Wed, Feb-18-2009, 06:13:56 AM Hey Tom,
Do you have a similar comparison between the VMR and the OEM ZCP? Thanks.
:thumbsup2:
KCLARK Wed, Feb-18-2009, 11:31:07 AM ^ The VMR rim thats shown on the scale, is that a 19x8.5 front weighing in at 26.65lbs?
Mr.G3 Wed, Feb-18-2009, 12:26:27 PM wonder why the pics are taking so long...hope it is not a marketing hype technique- which I doubt since I dont recall EAS guys ever doing that to an extreme.
Guess we'll wait.
jram Wed, Feb-18-2009, 02:32:12 PM You must have forgotten the forged VM thread from July 2007.
http://m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=167574
I had my heart set on those too... =-( I would still take a forged version in 9.5 over the new 10 rears.
wonder why the pics are taking so long...hope it is not a marketing hype technique- which I doubt since I dont recall EAS guys ever doing that to an extreme.
Guess we'll wait.

It's not - but we have to respect the wishes of the VMR guys. As soon as I can release pics - this thread will be updated.
