View Full Version : Avoiding swirls in the paint (dark color)
evo-J Thu, Nov-15-2001, 12:51:00 PM How are you guys avoiding or minimizing the swirls marks in the dark colors. They usually come up after a few car washes. How often do you wax it to remove them? I usually wash my car myself, rarely does it go to a hand car wash place.
milehighm3 Thu, Nov-15-2001, 08:36:00 PM I've had plenty of dark cars and I couldn't get rid of the swirls myself that's why my cars now are light color cars. I don't believe in waxing my cars cause you do it too much it fades the color of the cars and especially dark cars.
Roadrunner Thu, Nov-15-2001, 11:42:00 PM swirlmarks on a dark color is unavoidable. i have found spray on wax, which is very lite, and 100% cotton baby diapers to work, kinda. i went with white on my next car and i love it.
TonyM3 Fri, Nov-16-2001, 05:41:00 PM I currently have a black '99 528 and use a set of products from Zaino (www.zainobros.com). I've been using the products ever since I got the car and it works for me.
The '02 M3 doesn't arrive until Feb/Mar.
muf Fri, Nov-16-2001, 07:16:00 PM Right, Zaino is unbelieveable. Everyone that has a competition TA or Firehawk uses this stuff. The dude is kool too and drives a Viper lol.
Underdog Sat, Nov-17-2001, 04:56:00 AM I have a red 1989 Porsche 928GT and swirl marks are almost non-existant. I use 3M imperial hand glaze, by hand and in a front to back motion, no circular motions. It is a great product. I follow with two applications, usually a day apart, of blitz wax. Makes the paint look deep and glossy. For newer cars like yours, P21S paintwork cleanser is great. Go to www.carcareonline.com. (http://www.carcareonline.com.) They have some good info..
wbmco8 Sun, Nov-18-2001, 09:42:00 PM I use Meguairs product and get beautiful results. Using their show car glaze then sealing it with the polymer sealant or High-Tech Yellow Wax provides a betiful deep shine just as it says on the bottle. You can even call the 800 number with your specific make and model and they will tell you the best combination. BUT you need to use the technique of front to back. When you apply the products and buff them off, front to back. Do each body secton seperate. Hood, doors, quarter panels, etc. .
