You want to be careful of superchip, they don't give you a written warranty like Dinan, I asked.

However, superchip is good because it's 100% customized! You can have JUST the limiter removed if you so feel like it. Or, have your entire engine remapped to take JUST 100 octane fuel. Very customizable.

Superchip also seems to be the one with the most evidence supporting a reasonable gain (some where in the teens in RWHP). Granted, I am still skeptical but atleast there are some dynos showing gains and a lot of pleased customers.

I am very pleased with it... and yes the greatest advantage is the fact that it is customizable for your car and mods. They don't offer a warranty, but it is transparent to the GT1, so they won't know it's there as long as you keep your fuel cut-off at a reasonable rpm. They do offer a 5 day money back garrantee... that is saying alot.

Yes, Jeff at Eurobahn seems to be one class act. He retains his cool despite all the attacks on the validity of power gains resulting from software. Seems like a very trustworthy guy that has customer satisfaction as his number one goal.

heard LOTS of HORROR stories about superchip back in the days~
around 5 years ago~ they might have improved or hired NEW programmer :D

oh well, personally I'd leave chip tunning alone for the M3~ unless you track the car which need the higher rav limit raised. I don't think I even drive 50% of what the stock M3 is capable of~

I must be getting old~

UNLESS the tunned the chip while the car was on the dyno or on the road. it is NOT customized to your car and mods.

I could be wrong but don't you send in your ECM for them to tune it?

I don't doubt that Jeff's Eurobahn chip does gain power~ and I think he has the correct attitude not loosing his temper in public.

Actually you either have to send in your ECU or have your map file downloaded (for the people close to a dealer). So, you do get a custom program for your car. Very good point though! I have sent in the map file with Dyno graghs showing hp/tq and a/f to the programing facility. Not sure if this gets you a better "load" but people are, for the most part, very happy with the software. But, in the end it comes down to what you feel comfortable with and what you can afford.

I started with the Dinan stg I when it first came out... because there was nothing else at the time... all I can say is night and day.

Warranty aside...if you want one the only company that you are even going to think about is dinan.

But cost per hp and overall power...what is seen as maybe the best.

The shark seems to be the best for the money but offers only like 6hp

Superchips...heard many a bad thing about them in the old days

Powerchips...have them on my m5 but their program for the m3 is way overpriced when compared to some of the other companies although just like superchips is it totally custom to customer wishes

Wrong Superchip. The one with the horror stories was out of Florida. These guys are out of the UK. Different company entirely.

Concur. I have both the Shark and the Superchip. No comparison. The Superchip performs far better on my car then the Shark did. I also had Eurobahn (Superchip) leave my rev-limiter at 8,000rpm to stay on the safe side.

FYI, the Superchip leaves a 17% fudge-factor for mods on your car. That way it can adjust itself correctly to a stock car or one with mods. From what Jeff told me, the more mods you have (i.e, intake, exhaust, etc..), the better the chip works. Makes sense. Also, how can you beat a 5 day money back guarantee? No one else has anything like that that that I'm aware of.

I'm leaning toward the Dinan because of their warranty.

My understanding is that the Dinan remaps the standard and sport throttle maps. That's actually all I want, I'm not that interested in the power gains.

How would you guys compare the Dinan throttle map versus the Shark map?

Can someone please provide me with a URL to SuperChip? From what I've read it seems that they provide the most HP gains, and that is what I am looking for.

I did a google search and it came up with a bunch of crap..

Please post the URL here..

I had mine done at Curry's and I thought the same thing. They do it right on the spot, you don't have to be with out the ECU for days, and then the price of them doing it for you I guess. Total came to $1065 with tax.

I've have really nice power gains, didn't do a dyno but they have a dyno there if you want to check out the gains right then. The shifting and drivability of the car is much better along with much better responsiveness.

I did take it to the track (1/8 mile) before and after the chip. I was running low 9s and now I'm running mid 8s. 8.45 being the best. I also picked up a Beltronics Vector FX2 Performance Timer to see how accurate it was. 0-60 times are much better than stock. 4.5 4.6, and the 1/8 mile times corresponded to the track times. Not bad IMO.
