I just purchased an 1999 M3 coupe. (no mods)

In the reviews I have read that it does 0-60 in 5.7 on a hard start
and 6.4s on a soft start.

I have been driving manual for a couple of years, but never had a car that had this much power.

What is the best way to get off the line to come close to those measurments.

Should I drop the clutch while the RPm are at 5000 or so in 1st gear?

when should I shift to second?

what is the defference between a soft start and a hard start?

If someone can walk me throught the way they start out and come close to those numbers I would appreciate it.

David the higher the launch rpm the quicker you will be to 60mph. The trick is to find the rpm that lets you lauunch with out blowing the tires away or bogging the motor. The other tricky part is avoiding wheel hop.The best way to do this is to be a little slow off the clutch, but not slip it. One more thing, you should be doing this at your local dragstrip and not in the street.
