Guest Fri, Jul-12-2002, 11:17:00 PM painting won't take more than an afternoon, you must clean surface with concrete cleaner/muratic acid and then apply a sealant then paint with suitable paint, apply several coats. drying is time consuming, will be a day or so, depending on humidity and weather. allow to dry then apply another coat. rolling is best. tiling will be very intensive labor, on your knees for a long time, ouch! Rust oleum makes a product called Epoxyshield specifically made for garage floors. It is NOT a paint, but an epoxy that you mix and let set for an hour then use. Anyway, comes in a kit with pain (gray or tan), anhydrous citrous acid cleaner (huge pain in the ass, but necessary), stir stick and even a video of how to do this. Also comes with a back of small paint chips to sprinkle on when done - looks very cool. One kit was $53 from my local Home Depot. One kit is supposed to do about 250 square feet (1 car garage) so you will likely need 2 or 3. Takes about 4 hours to dry to touch, 12 for light foot traffic, 24 for heavy traffic and putting junk back in the garage. Instructions say to wait 7 days before parking a car on it, but that seems a bit long. Anyway, I highly recommend this product. It looked so good, that I actually put baseboard colonial trim around my garage after it was done, then replaced the std. garage bulb lights with nice brass and frosted glass ones. My wife definitely thinks that I've lost it..... http://www.m3forum.com/ubb/graemlins/rockband.gif Roadrunner Mon, Jul-22-2002, 08:25:00 PM hi paladin, thx for the advice. i'm gonna have to look into that. now i just have to figure out what to do w/ all the crap i have in my garage. |
