I am new and just glad that I found a BMW forum. I am looking to purchase an M Coupe, awsome!, in the summer of '03. My question is if any of you have heard of changes they may be making to them in the near future. I'm not saying they need any, but if they are planning on making some change in '04, I'll hold out. Thanks!

The bad news is that the M coupe will cease production in 2002 due to the switch to the new Z3 platform which is not compatible with the existing car. Allegedly, there is no replacement planned for the Z coupe due to low sales take up.

You may want to try and pick up a used model to limit your risk on residuals if this bothers you. Out of interest, I bought a 2002 M coupe in January this year - and chose it over the M3 which is a great car in a common body. The M coupe is so much more individualistic.

Damn sorry to hear that. Well I'm not apposed to getting a used one, just wanted to make sure no changes were coming up. What is the new Z3 platform? Is there a site I can go to for more info? Thanks!

The new Z3 will be based on a modified E46 (3 Series) chassis. I cant recommend a specific site but a search on 'new bmw z3' will, Im sure throw up some interesting sites with pictures etc.

Unfortunately, the only other coupes I have driven are a 2001 3.0 and a 1998 2.8. Hence cannot really give you any comparisons. My 2002 M has been fine to date - touch wood. However, the car is currently with Hartge having the exterior 'Hartged' and the interior is getting a pretty thorough overhaul too. I should be getting it back next week and will be able to post pictures if required. Curiously, have you had any problems with your older model?
