Hey guys...I'm at work so I need to make this quick (for now)

I just bought a 2005 Alpine White/Cinnamon M3 6MT. It came in on the transport from Texas on Tuesday morning. It came with some nice mods (exterior and interior) but it is now time to make it my own.

I don't need to do a long write up..here are some pics from the car before it left Texas...followed my some teasers of what I'll be doing to it.

ENJOY....

Yup...I can't give up the sunroof to go CF haha.

The roof, side mirrors, roof rails, and shark fin are getting painted Jet Black tomorrow.

More pics to come...I'm swapping interiors with member TakMan on Saturday so the interior will be black with Aluminum trim.

Very nice, those wheels are gonna be sick with roof and mirrors matching the blackout theme

I say leave the diffuser all CF or Jet black paint to match that as well

Light colored cars look so sick with the CSL diffuser left in dark color

Congrats! Car's looking really good. My only question is why you're choosing to paint the roof JB (which will scratch over time; JB is a ***** to keep from getting ripped up over time) rather than just go with a good quality CF roof?

You may also want to talk to Tom at EAS to go with 100% CF roundels throughout and all around the car.

Wouldn't I lose my sunroof if I went CF? Or do they have the kit that could include the sunroof?

The main reason why I am painting it black rather than CF is that when it gets scratched over time I'll strip the paint down and re-shoot it. The CF is a big process and by having a paint and body shop I can do the paintwork much easier.

CF looks great...but I like the Panoramic look of black just as much

Thanks guys...the car should be about 90% complete by Tuesday (I will finally be able to drive it home!!)

I put on my Agency Power exhaust today and the fitment is AWFUL..I'll have the muffler shop fix that FIRST THING Monday haha. It sounds good but I definitely need to add a rasp pipe or some combination of section 1 and 2 to try and make it as close to my M5 as possible (which is going to be tough!)

Also, here are couple more pics of the car with the smoked tails on (and if anyone is wondering what that cup is on the back glass, its to protect the guts of the shark fin...don't want that to get messed up with the Shark Fin cover is being painted)

enjoy...

They look a bit darker here then they look in person...I'll get some pics of them in the sunlight next week. Still I am VERY happy with how my painter smoked them (exact color I was looking for)

Major props to Mark (M Chap), it was a fun and exciting day and I was treated like an A list customer by everyone, including the staff, Mark, and his dad (shop owner). They even lent me one of their personal cars to drive around while the swap was taking place. BIG thumbs up, look out for my thread with pics of my new interior and exhaust!

If anyone has any car that needs to be fixed/painted, Chapparone auto body in San Diego is the place to go! I will be driving down there for sure with any mods/repairs needed on my car. Excellent service (so impressed that its going in my signature)! Thanks Mark!

Haha well the roof and side mirrors are going black on Monday (can't roll with CF at this point haha), and the CSL-style diffuser will get properly fitted to as close to OEM as possible by one of my bodymen this week.

As far as the bootlid goes...after everything I have read about fitment the only way I will get this is if I can get OEM

And the bumper...for some reason the whole craze for these has past me and I'm really focusing on making the OEM bumpers I have as nice and unique as possible.

However, I wouldn't mind some OEM engine components (airbox, headers, etc.)

Oh damn, I guess I didn't read through enough. I'm glad you are taking this step, I'm doing the same thing. A lot of people will tell me I'll get bored with the car If I have everything done to it but I disagree. I hate to have to do things in a process. This way, you get a perfect car where as by the time you try to sell your car it become sexy for someone else to enjoy.

I think you are making a big mistake by getting rid of the cinnamon interior.

Alpine white with that color interior is just plain a rare thing.

I live out here in Arizona and I cant even find an Alpine white coupe M3 for sale let alone one with that color interior.

I also would not paint the roof black and mirrors black either. Now if you were doing a CF roof mod then okay, but just painting it.

The only thing I would have changed on this car were the red and white roundels. I would just get the stock one placed on the car and be done with it. The rest of my mods would just be a very sweet sound system, Halo's, Coil Overs and a great B&B Triflow exhaust.

Good luck with it though..... It looks good.

The reason I did the mirrors is to flow with the tinted windows...you'll see once they are on the car. It will create a clean look down the middle of the car.

I'll have pics of the install up soon, we are going to put the car back together this morning.

It will then go immediately to the muffler shop to fix the AP exhaust fitment!!!!

Thanks guys.

Seems like you have a very diff style of modding then the OP. I do also agree that the AW/CIN looks better, but the AW on black or gray does seem a bit more agressive imo.

As far as the roof goes, I really think it is a good idea and am also planning on doing it soon. It's a good alternative to the C/F roof and can be formed into a unique look for 1/10 of the price. :thumbsup2:

In person the car looks awesome, and this was before the painted roof, mirrors, and iForged's were fitted. To be honest, what he is doing is REALLY smart. Going with a nice contrast of White and Black in every aspect possible, definitely very unique. Having his own paint shop basically beckons to have anything and everything possible painted as well. People do have different tastes and styles, but this one seems to be getting much love and attention. Setting trends, not following!

Oh and Mark, lets set up a time to get my tail lights smoked :thumbsup2:. They look too damn good!

///M_Chap
Wed, Apr-16-2008, 03:42:38 AM
Thanks for the kind words Ross and yes lets get those tails smoked ASAP!

Also, thank you to everyone else for all your opinions, thoughts, and compliments. It is always nice to hear what people think, whether it be positive or negative. Although this has been a quick (One week haha) project it has felt like much longer making sure everything with the car was done with perfection. And hearing all the nice things about the car makes what I'm doing to it worth even more!

I finally got to drive the car home from work today and hearing that AP exhaust was amazing. I had my local muffler shop fix the fitment and it is now close to perfect. As far as the exhaust goes, it sounds amazing under about 4000 RPMS, but I need to get the Rasp Terminator ASAP to get a more exact sound that I'm going for (Jack@CustomPerformance...hopefully those puppies get off back order soon!!) The paintwork and wheels turned out EXACLTY how I wanted. I wanted to create a Panoramic-like look on the roof and my painter took his time to create a Mirror-Like finish on the roof (you HAVE to see it the car in person to know exactly what I'm talking about!)

I'll do some more writing later on however (I know you all want to see the pictures); so without going on I'll get to the pictures of the car with the roof painted, mirrors installed, AND Iforged Senekas mounted!!!

ENJOY...

Ever thought of painting the rings of the fog lights black ?

Yeah I'm going to once I get the bumper off the car again...the car came with the white ones and hasn't been my main focus so far haha.

I'm working on another bumper right now which will have molded Hamann style fog light mouldings as well as a Hamann style front lip and shaved reflectors. Once that bumper goes on the car I'm going to recondition this existing bumper, clean up the front lip, and I'll also paint those rings.

Nice job. I bet the wheels look much better in person, always seems to be that way with black wheels.

My only suggestion would be to black out the center cap on the wheel as well. To me leaving it silver draws your eye to it instead of appreciating the diameter of the rim or the color first.

Everything else is awesome :thumbsup2:

Nah, the bolts are staying..I don't want the wheels to be COMPLETELY black because they need to have something to accent them (kind of how I am using all the black to accent the Alpine White)..I'm going to do one more thing to my wheels to finish them off, but not for a few more weeks.

The CSL's or the the IForged Senekas?...these are the same wheels I had painted black from earlier in the project. I just added the white pinstripe to add some contrast to the wheels and to go with the overall look of the car.

I REALLY liked how the white pinstripe turned out. I see a decent amount of guys doing red or yellow, so I was really excited to change it up with the white.

Also, if any of you San Diego (or O.C. I guess) guys want to come do the photoshoot with me let me know. It would be nice to have a couple other modded M's for the day for some nice photos.

haha thanks man, hey if you are ever in San Diego get in touch with me and we can go take some pictures.

On a photography note, my new bumper and lip should be on within the week and I will be going out for another photoshoot in a couple weeks (I also lowered the car another 1/4" inch - probably only noticeable by me lol). I'll post those pictures here in this thread once I get them from my photographer.

And YES I will be keeping my rep Strass lip and bumper...possibly making a project out of it as well (maybe molding this time around??)

Thanks again for the kind words guys...it is really appreciated.

Here are the pics with the bumper and lip installed on the car. Please excuse my poor photography and expect a professional shoot soon (possibly this weekend). No problems at all with the install...we test fit everything before sending any parts to paint to insure no mini-nightmares...

Anyways, I put it on this afternoon and just got done claying, waxing and polishing the whole car here at my shop. If anyone has any questions regarding the car please PM me.

Here you go (god I can't wait for the photographer to take pics of this thing again....)

Haha, I figured you would notice that. Yea I know...these pictures were taken right after we installed it. We played with the fitment for a bit last night and it looks like OEM now. I'm very happy with the Vorsteiner fitment (after some good time spent for adjustments, of course)

Also, I looked back an older pic of my car to see if the taillights on the body and decklid lined up perfectly...they don't exactly...
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p109/mchapparone/MVC-004S-4.jpg

The one's on the decklid are a couple mils higher, which I something I had never noticed until I installed the CSL boot

Nice Work. That is an SD County car if ever there was one. I miss my hometown. My extended family still is there and I own Charger seats so I'm back fairly frequently but I've never been able to get back there with the vert. Now that I've got the perfect car for San Diego evenings I live in Nor Cal......****, here comes the rain. Time to park the vert and cover her in the garage for the next 5 months.
