I think they would have to redesign the car to handle the V8. If they redo the M Coupe like some of the new Z4 spy pics floating around they might. I just dont think they will in this body.

But the thought of 400+ HP in my coupe makes me :D

In the recent issue of Bimmer, there's a Q&A with the new NA Manager of the M brand. In it they pose the following question:

Q: Will the Z4 M Coupe get the new V8 that is coming in the E92 M3?

A: Of course, we haven't yet announced what engine will be in the E92 M3, but if you think about how we have dealt with our engine programs in the past, we do use the same engine across different body variances. If there is a V8 and the Z4 M Coupe is still in production, the likelihood is that they will be matched.

Thats the tough part I think. The current Z4M is not selling well at all I have heard whispers about them not making the current version after this year. But maybe they will Make it more mainstream like all the other M models and add the V8 .

If they do put the V8 in it... and by some miraculous stroke of luck, they happen to have one in a particular color I like... I'd be in trouble.

Good thing the chances of that happening are slim.

I'd rather BMW just put the e46M3 Csl 3.2l in the Z4, without SMG.

The current MZ4 Coupes are not selling well because of the new e92 335 turbo. My S.O. (who works at a BMW dealership) was all set to get a new MZ4 Coupe for the longest time until he finally drove one. Didn't like the engine power (or lack thereof) and sound compared to the 335 (but the brakes are better on the MZ4 Coupe). So he ordered a 6-speed 335 Coupe earlier this week with the performance sport package. Sales of the MZ4 Coupe are definitely struggling. His dealership just can't move them any more.

When the old m coupes were on sale (S52), they disappeared from bmws line up for a year. Then seemingly out of nowhere the S54 version surfaced, of which only 600 or so were produced. Perhaps history will repeat itself.
