View Full Version : Forced Induction + Free Flow Exhaust Systems........Best Combo?

There are several aftermarket exhausts on the market, some flowing better than others, however I have yet to see any real "flow specs" discussed about the various options available (with the exception of the point paper on the Dinan exhaust).

Since forced induction systems perform better with a free flowing exhaust with minimal back pressure, what are the best exhaust systems, including the various "rasp remover" pipes out there, that complement forced induction? Also, does anyone know of any flow testing that has been done on various aftermarket systems to determine just how "free flowing" they are? I have a S/C on the way and am contemplating an exhaust upgrade. However, I want an exhaust that will complement the system, not just produce a nice sound or get rid of the rasp (although those are definite requirements, but the priority is performance as long as it is not too loud).

Anything else besides SS? SS may in fact be the best, but what about others? Is there some type of "ranking" out there? In my case, I am looking for a setup that will flow the best but still meet my noise requirement (i.e. not too loud). Of course that means some sacrifice in performance, but the goal here is to make an informed decision. Also, I intend to keep my stock headers for now (the VF kit I am getting is currently tuned for them), even though the headers are probably the main flow restriction point in the whole stock exhaust system.
