A British magazine, "CAR" i believe has tested both a 6 speed coupe and an SMG II coupe in 0-100 kmh or 0-62.5 mph figures and they were identical @ 5.2 secs for both cars.

I watched an episode of Motor Trend television where they were testing a Z06 Corvette, a Porsche Boxter S and an M3 coupe.
The BMW had the conventional 6 speed, they launched at 1500 rpm and did a 4.6 zero to 60mph.
Pretty quick.

Yes it is. Faster to break and drain money from your wallet. :D

The argument is silly, the performance difference is not significant, it's really personal preference. I like the 6-speed because it's a bit more of an...I guess I'd say organic experience, like I have more of a connection with the car. It enhances the driving experience for me, others are happy to give up the clutchwork, but to each their own :)

I started the war because Iraq has WMD.

I have 6MT but I had SMG in my previous car... I like 6MT more but it is not such a great gearbox (and the same applies for SMG since they have the same core). Those who have driven an S2000 know what a great manual gearbox is like... I wish the M3 came with such one!

I'm not taking part in this battle...
