Ok, so this is the last thread regarding the last drive in the summer!

Many expressed preference in August... How does Sunday August 3rd sound? Did Sunday in general seem to work for everybody last time? And does it make problems for those who wished to go last time but could not?

It looks like it will be in the Columbia River Gorge, but it could also be around Mt. Rainier...

Moderators... If you could pin this, that'd be great! Thanks!:D

And last, if you are interested and would like to go and whatnot, just speak up... I hope we get a bigger turnout than June 22!

Well anybody can come... But most attendee's are from the greater Seattle area or Portland. Our last meet was at Ocean Shores, which is on the Pacific Coast of Washington... This next meet will probably be along the Columbia River... Between Washington and Oregon...

Thanks for Pinning!

Ok, so we're doing this Sunday, August 3, 2003. Mt. Ranier it is, seeming how the Gorge is just too far away for people near Seattle.

Edit: Martin (C4S) and his fellow Porsche friends also expressed interest in coming, so we can expect some more German enthusiasts.

I might be down for this drive. I would certainly like to go out and drive with you guys again. My only concern with the Mountain drive is the condition of the road heading up there. Hwy 410 East I believe. That road sucks. Lots of spots for a spirited drive, but the road conditions make it tough on the cars. Just playing devil's advocate here. :)

Regardless, count your friendly local neighborhood DTM'er in!

p.s. Thanks for the sig pic! ;)

Veno... That sig pic is sweeeet!!!!!

You're right about the crappy road conditions... What do you say we do? I think the Gorge is just too far away for people from around the Puget Sound... That'd be 6 hours in just getting to and from the meet...

Cool... So a nice chat with Dale, and we decided on this...
Mt. Rainier has horrible roads...

Long Beach!!!

Seattls folks will meet again in Fife, and drive to Rayomond. We will meet Portland drivers in Raymond as well... From there we will all drive to Long Beach...

Sunday August 3rd....

Dale will post some links later...

I bet times will be similar to the last meet, but hopefully a little earlier?

I have never been Long Beach before, if any of you think that its a crappy place...go ahead to jump up say NO.
Here is the link I found about this Scenic Drive. Raymond is where Seattle and Porland folks are going to meet.
http://www.tourism.wa.gov/TTD_RegionActivity_R4_T13.html

Seattle folks are just like what Wyatt said...are going to meet in Fife again, and drive down to Raymond. We will meet Portland guys there, and drive down to Long Beach all together.

Here are the maps...
1. From Seattle to Raymond (~2 hours drive)
2. From Raymond to Long Beach (~1 hour drive)

Again, if you guys don't like this location, please speak out loud.

Thu, Jul-10-2003, 12:30:23 AM
You need to be closer to portland....3 hours is a hella long drive...... can we have another meet in july also????

WyattH
Thu, Jul-10-2003, 01:50:19 AM
Of course we can go again in July!

Portland is what, almost 4 hours away from Seattle? That means at a minimun, both parties will be driving 2 hours to and from for the meet... But, that means the meet will be located off I-5 somewhere directly between the two. Not a whole lot of places right smack in the middle... I can't think of any other places that are > 3 hr from both Seattle and Portland, yet offer some cool roads and or view.

WyattH
Sat, Jul-12-2003, 12:40:54 AM
So Dale... Maybe if it's only you and me, we can keep it local... The San Juans would be ideal but they're a bit north...

Awesome. Time is coming up. I will be out of town the weekend of Aug 9. Perhaps we should do it August 2?

August 2nd, Long Beach, WA. Perhaps we could start the meet a little earlier than last time? Comment?

Edit: Dale and I were just talking. Isn't Seafair that weekend???
MAYBE the Seattle folk could go to that for a few hours, and then take some photos on Alki Point? I don't know how to accomodate Portland drivers... Haithem... You can spend the night if you want to come with us....:D LOL.

Also, you can check my thread in GENERAL. It's about a Porsche forum I just joined. It looks like we may have some C4s' and TT's accompanying us this time...

THOUGHTS??? PLEASE SPEAK UP! WE WANT YOU TO COME WITH US!

Sorry guys, I'm going to have to bail on this one. August the 2nd I'm in a Texas Hold'em tournament. I have to go to that and win so I can afford more mods!

Hope you guys have a great time. If anything comes up later in August, or whenever else, let me know. Otherwise, take care. Hope to drive with you guys again!

WyattH
Mon, Jul-28-2003, 07:55:16 AM
The tentative list has grown.
The only certain ones are:

Haithem (M3)
Dale (M3)
Carlos (M3)
WyattH (C43)

What a shitty list... That's nobody...
Haithem, it's not worth your time to drive up here for that, lol!

We were thinking... Cancelling this meet, and having a SET date at the end of August.. And maybe this: San Juans. That would offer a GREAT drive, fun ferry to Friday Harbor, great views, everything...

Haithem, you can certainly stay at someones house since that'd be a monster drive from Portland. Nobody else from Portland seems interested, so... Haha...

I will make a thread tomorrow (too tired now), and it should not be pinned...

I want input!

I'm in either way -- San Juans or SeaFair weekend. Haithem, you're welcome to stay at my place if you want to drive up here the night before an event. Just let me know. Wyatt, keep me posted.

On your first post, don't you think you should let people know who you are????:D

If I can get a few more Porsches, a few M3's, maybe a couple AMG's, we will stick with Seafair. If there's only like 1 of each car, or like 5 total, scrue that, haha.

But, some Porsche owners just said "I don't know if us Porsche owners want to be hanging out with the BMW croud."

Hey guys. Sorry I dropped off this drive. But I'm here to let you guys know about another drive that some DTMPower members are getting together. Perhaps we could get everyone to come to that?

Here is the info:
Hello fellow ///M3 forum members. This is your local friendly DTMPower member posting up some info about a drive we are putting together. The details you ask?

When: August 17th
Where: * Chuckanut DR
Time: Likely a 10 - 10:30 a.m. meeting.
Meeting Location: Still being decided. Likely a mall north of Seattle.

DTMPower Post about Drive - Details and conversation! (http://www.dtmpower.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=104592)

Some highlights from the DTMPower post:
* A road w/ some straight lines and lots of twisties. Chuckanut is an awesome road, but very narrow and dangerous in some spots. Bring those showcars out of the dusty garage, and enjoy the peak of summer! Bring those cameras, it's also very scenic. I have come across magazine articles about the road, saying that it is one of the most senic stretches of road in the nation.

From the one who rolled a 7 series. This is different from the Leavenworth drive, I would NOT recommend high speeds on this drive. (Believe me, I know how it feels going off a cliff.) The roads are single lane w/ very dangerous twisties and tight corners.

From the evil guy: Kind of a long way to drive, but definetly one of the best in the northwest. Then at the end you HAVE to do some drag racing down the long straight away on the south end of the road. It's not a day on chuckanut unless you get yelled at by some old grandma from her porch saying she has called the police "on you stupid ass's!"

BE WARNED OF THIS ROAD!!!!!! :)
