Has anyone put an aftermarket alarm or the factorey alarm on theirs? I am weary of the quality of the factory alarm but then am also worried of aftermarket incompatibilties such as making the buttons on the key(linked to seat memory) and other things messed up? Any first hand experiences and or suggestions?
Is it just me or is the $675 upgraded stereo sound bad? It just doesn't fill the car with rich sounds and tight bass like an upgraded stereo should. I am a little disapponted with it but them the engine makes up for all of these shortcomings. Has anyone added an aftermarket to theirs yet and if they did was it pretty easy with the exisitng setup?

I think the factory alarm is the way to go in my opinion. I dont think any alarm will prevent a determined thief so I look at them as just a way to deter "undecided" thieves who hopefully will decide to go for a easier car to steal. And the factory alarm is already prewired so they dont have to really mess with anything when installing.
Btw, did you get the red "nose" on the rearview mirror? My first one didn't come with one (and I have heard several people who didnt get it either) but the second did. If you do get the factory alarm, you should definitely have the nose so that potential thieves know the alarm is there and active.

Did you know that the 'lock confirmation' blinker is NLA on the newer cars.
Too many idiots thought they had an alarm, and when their cars got broken into, they tried to sue BMW.
