Hi:

I'm a newbie here and with my new M3. I bought an 02 Convertible 6MT Topaz in November. The factory warranty ends in April and there are a few things I want looked at.

What's the best dearler service here? The two closest to me are VOB and Silver Spring. I really hate to drive vast distances for dealer service but I would if both of those places stink.

Next, can the recommended Castrol 10W-60 only be bought at a dealership? If so, I understand its expensive. Is one place in the DC-metro better than others to buy oil?

Thanks for your help. I am trying to sneak away from the family on Sunday to meet up with you guys at Tysons, we'll see.

Not sure about the oil and I only have experience with Towson BMW. They are excellent in my eyes, just dont let them was your car. I still get chills when I see that brush of thiers. But everything else, service managers, mechanics, waiting room, service bay area and loaner car(always a new bmw unless they are out) all get 4 stars.


As for the oil, you are probably better off buying online.

Go to Sterling.. you get the usual discount if you are a BMW CCA member.. or you can order it from turnermotorsports.com if you are planning on changing it yourself

Avoid VOB.

You'll be fine with Tischer.

Only 10W-60 for M3s... I've gotten it at Tischer and Towson.

It's only about $8-9/qt each with the BMWCCA discount.
